Commis Chef – Common Grounds, Yas Mall, Abu Dhabi

Common Grounds, the specialty coffee and healthy-eats brand from the EATX family, is opening its first Abu Dhabi location at Yas Mall, and we’re looking for a Commis Chef to join our founding kitchen team. Known across Dubai for its fresh salad bowls, wraps, all-day breakfast, and freshly ground coffee, Common Grounds is built on quality, consistency, and a genuine love of good food. As Commis Chef, you’ll support senior chefs with food preparation, mise en place, and maintaining a clean, organized station, while learning the ropes of a professional, fast-paced kitchen. This is an ideal entry point for someone early in their culinary career who wants structured training and the chance to grow with a brand new to Abu Dhabi.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist chefs de partie with basic food preparation, chopping, and mise en place.
  • Follow recipes and presentation standards under the guidance of senior chefs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation at all times.
  • Help with receiving, storing, and rotating kitchen stock.
  • Support the wider kitchen team during busy service periods.

Requirements

  • Culinary certificate/diploma or equivalent hands-on kitchen experience.
  • Basic knowledge of food hygiene, knife skills, and kitchen equipment.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within a professional kitchen environment.
  • Good physical stamina to handle a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Team-oriented attitude with strong attention to detail.
