Commis Pastry – Job DescriptionPosition Overview

As a Commis Pastry, you will play a vital role in supporting the pastry team by assisting in the preparation and production of high-quality desserts and baked goods. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for culinary professionals to develop their skills in a dynamic and creative environment.

🥐 Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation & Production: Assist in preparing ingredients and tools for pastry production, ensuring all mise en place is ready for daily operations.​

  • Recipe Adherence: Follow recipes and instructions accurately to produce a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods.

  • Quality Control: Ensure all products meet the quality and presentation standards set by the Pastry Chef.

  • Maintenance & Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including workstations, utensils, and equipment

  • Inventory Assistance: Assist in managing inventory by tracking ingredient levels and reporting any shortages or issues to the Pastry Chef.

  • Training & Development: Participate in on-the-job training to learn new techniques and improve pastry skills.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.​

🎓 Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of culinary experience working as Commis in a high-volume hotel or free-standing restaurant is preferred.

  • Education: Degree or Higher National Diploma in Hospitality/Culinary Art is preferred.

  • Skills: Basic experience in holding and preparation of food.

  • Hygiene Knowledge: Knowledge of basic food hygiene is preferred.

  • Language: Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
