Zapata Je Mexican Restaurant is seeking a creative and skilled Demi Chef de Partie (Fusion Cuisine) to join our pre-opening team ahead of our grand launch at J1 Beach, Dubai in July 2025. This role is ideal for a culinary professional with pre-opening experience who excels in combining authentic Mexican flavors with modern fusion techniques. As a key part of our kitchen team, the DCDP will assist in menu innovation, food preparation, and maintaining high-quality culinary standards, ensuring a seamless kitchen operation in a dynamic beachfront setting.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in pre-opening kitchen setup, including organizing workstations and refining service workflows.
  • Work closely with senior chefs to create and execute fusion-style Mexican dishes with innovative techniques.
  • Ensure precision, consistency, and presentation in all culinary preparations.
  • Experiment with modern plating styles, ingredient combinations, and unique flavor pairings.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene regulations, and kitchen cleanliness.
  • Monitor kitchen inventory and assist with ingredient selection and supplier coordination.
  • Train and guide junior kitchen staff in fusion techniques and innovative cooking methods.
  • Support special events, menu tastings, and pre-launch activations.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Demi Chef de Partie or in a similar role.
  • Pre-opening experience in setting up kitchen operations is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Mexican cuisine and fusion cooking techniques.
  • Passion for culinary innovation, ingredient experimentation, and creative plating.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy kitchen environment.
  • Excellent teamwork, organizational, and time-management skills.
