Commis 1 – Pre-Opening Team | Zapata Je Mexican Restaurant, DubaiJob Summary

Zapata Je Mexican Restaurant is looking for a dedicated and skilled Commis 1 to join our pre-opening team ahead of our grand launch at J1 Beach, Dubai in July 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring culinary professional with pre-opening experience to be part of an exciting kitchen environment focused on authentic Mexican flavors. The Commis 1 will support senior chefs in food preparation, kitchen operations, and ensuring high standards of quality and consistency.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in pre-opening kitchen setup, including station organization and workflow optimization.
  • Prepare ingredients and support the execution of authentic Mexican dishes.
  • Maintain consistency in food preparation, presentation, and portion control.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene regulations, and kitchen cleanliness.
  • Work closely with the kitchen team to execute daily service efficiently.
  • Monitor stock levels, handle inventory management, and report shortages.
  • Uphold high standards of kitchen teamwork, communication, and collaboration.
  • Support pre-launch events, menu tastings, and promotional culinary activations.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Commis Chef in a high-energy kitchen environment.
  • Pre-opening experience in setting up kitchen operations is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Mexican cuisine, traditional recipes, and ingredient handling.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic hospitality setting.
  • Passion for culinary excellence, food presentation, and teamwork.
  • Knowledge of kitchen safety regulations and food preparation standards.
