Porters

Iconic Plaza Hotel is seeking reliable, hardworking Porters to join our guest services team. Porters are essential to creating a welcoming first impression and ensuring guests’ luggage and needs are handled with care, discretion, and efficiency. This role suits energetic individuals who take pride in service, teamwork, and maintaining a polished hotel environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Guest Assistance — Greet arriving and departing guests courteously; assist with luggage handling to and from guest rooms, vehicles, and storage.
• Bell Services — Escort guests to rooms, explain basic room features, and deliver luggage promptly.
• Valet and Transport Support — Coordinate with drivers and valet staff to load and unload vehicles when required.
• Public Area Maintenance — Keep lobby, entrance, and porter stations tidy and presentable; report maintenance issues.
• Room Preparation Support — Assist housekeeping with moving luggage and staging rooms for arrivals when needed.
• Security and Safety — Handle guest belongings responsibly; follow hotel procedures for lost and found, and report suspicious activity.
• Communication — Relay guest requests and special instructions to front desk, housekeeping, and management.
• Ad hoc Tasks — Support other departments during peak periods, including event setup, deliveries, and guest errands.

Requirements

• Education — Minimum KCSE or equivalent; basic literacy and numeracy.
• Experience — Previous experience in hospitality, porterage, or customer service preferred but not required.
• Physical Ability — Able to lift and carry luggage safely and stand for extended periods.
• Skills — Strong interpersonal skills; polite and professional manner; basic English proficiency.
• Attributes — Punctual, dependable, discreet, and able to work under pressure.
• Availability — Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
• Legal — Right to work in Kenya and ability to pass background checks.
• Certifications — Basic first aid or customer service training is an advantage.
