The Housekeeping Supervisor will lead and motivate the housekeeping team to deliver immaculate guest rooms and public areas that reflect Taj’s standards of luxury and hospitality. This hands‑on role combines operational oversight, quality control, team coaching, and guest interaction to ensure consistently high cleanliness, presentation, and guest satisfaction across the property.

Duties and Responsibilities

Operational Leadership and Daily Oversight

  • Supervise daily housekeeping operations for guest rooms, corridors, public areas, and back‑of‑house zones; ensure timely room turnovers and readiness for arrivals.
  • Conduct and document routine inspections of rooms and public areas using established checklists; identify and correct deficiencies immediately.
  • Coordinate closely with Front Office, Engineering, Laundry, and F&B to prioritise room assignments, maintenance requests, and special guest requirements.

Team Management and Development

  • Lead, coach, and mentor room attendants, public area attendants, and housekeeping support staff; deliver on‑the‑job training and regular performance feedback.
  • Prepare daily staffing rosters and allocate tasks to meet occupancy demands while controlling labour costs.
  • Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and probation reviews for housekeeping team members; promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Quality Control and Standards

  • Enforce Taj housekeeping standards, grooming codes, and SOPs; ensure consistent presentation of rooms, turndown service, linen, and amenities.
  • Implement and monitor cleaning schedules, deep‑clean programmes, and seasonal refresh plans.
  • Maintain a rigorous lost and found procedure and accurate incident reporting for guest complaints and service recovery.

Inventory, Supplies and Cost Control

  • Monitor and control housekeeping inventories including linen, guest supplies, cleaning chemicals, and equipment; conduct regular stock counts and report variances.
  • Work with Procurement to place orders, evaluate supplier performance, and ensure cost‑effective purchasing while maintaining quality standards.
  • Track and report on key housekeeping KPIs such as room inspection scores, average cleaning time, linen loss, and supply consumption.

Health Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment in line with manufacturer guidance and local regulations; maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) where applicable.
  • Enforce hygiene, sanitation, and infection‑control protocols; participate in internal audits and implement corrective actions.
  • Support emergency procedures, fire drills, and evacuation plans; ensure team members are trained on safety protocols.

Guest Relations and Service Recovery

  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and housekeeping‑related complaints; coordinate service recovery and follow up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Support VIP and special‑request preparations, ensuring personalised room set‑ups and discreet service for high‑profile guests.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the floor to engage with guests and model service behaviours for the team.

Reporting and Continuous Improvement

  • Prepare daily and weekly housekeeping reports for management review; highlight trends, recurring issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute to SOP updates, training materials, and quality improvement initiatives; lead small projects such as linen replacement programmes or energy‑saving cleaning practices.
  • Participate in cross‑departmental meetings to align housekeeping priorities with hotel operations and events.

Requirements

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–4 years experience in housekeeping supervision within a 4‑ or 5‑star hotel or luxury serviced residence.
  • Proven track record of managing teams, maintaining high cleanliness standards, and delivering measurable improvements in room quality and guest satisfaction.
  • Formal hospitality qualification or diploma in hotel operations, housekeeping management, or a related field is preferred.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop a multicultural team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a practical, hands‑on approach to problem solving.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Competent with property management systems, housekeeping inspection tools, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, linen care, and basic maintenance reporting procedures.

Language and Cultural Fit

  • Fluent English required; conversational Arabic is an advantage.
  • Comfortable working in a multicultural workplace and respectful of local customs and guest expectations.

Personal Attributes

  • Professional presentation, punctuality, and a guest‑first attitude.
  • Physically fit and able to perform light manual tasks, stand for extended periods, and move between floors as required.
  • Flexible availability including shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Desirable

  • Experience with luxury or international hotel brands and familiarity with sustainability practices in housekeeping (linen programmes, waste reduction).
  • Certification in health and safety, infection control, or chemical handling is an advantage.
