The Waitress will be a warm, attentive, and professional ambassador of Taj’s hospitality on the restaurant floor. This role focuses on delivering polished table service, anticipating guest needs, and supporting a smooth, efficient dining experience for local and international guests. The ideal candidate combines excellent communication skills, a guest‑first attitude, and the ability to work calmly during busy service periods.

Employment Type: Full time; frontline food & beverage role delivering table service across one or more hotel dining outlets.


Duties and Responsibilities

Guest Service and Table Management

  • Welcome guests, present menus, explain daily specials, and make personalised recommendations.
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders, relay them to the kitchen and bar, and ensure timely delivery of items.
  • Set, clear, and reset tables to Taj standards; maintain table presentation and ambience throughout service.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction during the meal and proactively address requests or concerns.

Order Accuracy and Coordination

  • Use the POS system to enter orders, process payments, and manage guest folios when required.
  • Coordinate closely with kitchen, bar, and service teams to ensure order accuracy and timely service.
  • Assist with running food and beverages during peak periods and support banquet or event service when needed.

Upselling and Revenue Support

  • Promote daily specials, signature dishes, and beverage pairings to enhance guest experience and increase average spend.
  • Support promotional campaigns and seasonal menus by being knowledgeable and enthusiastic about offerings.

Hygiene, Safety and Compliance

  • Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations at all times.
  • Follow proper handling and storage procedures for food and beverage items; report any issues to supervisors.
  • Maintain a clean, organised service station and assist with side‑work duties (e.g., polishing cutlery, restocking condiments).

Teamwork and Professionalism

  • Participate in pre‑shift briefings and handovers; communicate guest notes and VIP arrivals to the team.
  • Support colleagues during busy shifts and contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Represent Taj’s grooming and service standards through professional appearance, punctuality, and courteous behaviour.

Record Keeping and Administrative Tasks

  • Complete checklists, side‑work logs, and shift reports as required.
  • Report lost & found items, guest incidents, and service recovery actions to the supervisor.
  • Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation when requested.

Requirements

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum 1–2 years experience in a waiter/waitress or server role at a hotel, upscale restaurant, or busy F&B outlet.
  • Prior exposure to fine dining or international service standards is an advantage.
  • Food safety or hospitality certification is desirable but not mandatory.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine service orientation.
  • Comfortable using POS systems and handling cashless and card transactions accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and the ability to prioritise tasks under pressure.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, carry trays, and perform physically active service duties.

Language and Cultural Fit

  • Fluent English required; conversational Arabic is an advantage depending on guest mix.
  • Comfortable working in a multicultural environment and respectful of local customs and guest expectations.

  • Friendly, patient, and composed under pressure with a positive attitude.
  • Team player who is reliable, punctual, and flexible with shift patterns including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
