Majestic Hotel Group is seeking a reliable, detail‑oriented Stewarding Shift Leader to oversee stewarding operations and ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and efficiency in our back‑of‑house food service areas. The Stewarding Shift Leader will supervise a team of stewards, coordinate dishwashing and kitchen cleaning workflows, manage chemical and equipment use, and support service teams during peak periods and events. This role requires a hands‑on leader who can maintain operational continuity, enforce hygiene and safety protocols, and train staff to deliver consistent, timely support to culinary and banquet teams. The ideal candidate combines practical stewarding experience with strong organizational skills, a calm supervisory presence, and a commitment to Majestic’s standards of professionalism and teamwork.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Shift Supervision — Lead and coordinate stewarding staff during assigned shifts; assign duties, monitor performance, and ensure full coverage.
  • Cleaning Operations — Oversee dishwashing, pot washing, glassware care, and cleaning of kitchen equipment and workstations to brand standards.
  • Hygiene & Safety Compliance — Enforce food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures; ensure correct use and storage of cleaning chemicals and PPE.
  • Equipment Management — Monitor and maintain dishwashing machines, glass washers, and related equipment; report faults and coordinate basic troubleshooting or maintenance requests.
  • Inventory & Stock Control — Track cleaning supplies, detergents, and stewarding consumables; assist with stock counts and place requisitions to avoid shortages.
  • Waste Management — Supervise proper segregation, disposal, and recycling of kitchen waste; ensure compliance with local regulations and hotel sustainability practices.
  • Support Service Teams — Coordinate with kitchen, banquet, and F&B supervisors to prioritize turnaround times, special setups, and event requirements.
  • Training & Development — Train new stewards on procedures, machine operation, safety, and quality expectations; conduct shift briefings and on‑the‑job coaching.
  • Quality Control — Conduct regular inspections of back‑of‑house cleanliness, glassware and cutlery standards, and storage areas; implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Record Keeping — Maintain shift logs, incident reports, equipment checklists, and handover notes for incoming shifts.

Requirements

  • Experience — Minimum 2 years in stewarding or kitchen support roles with at least 1 year in a supervisory or team‑lead capacity preferred.
  • Education — High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in hospitality or food safety is an advantage.
  • Knowledge — Strong understanding of HACCP principles, food hygiene standards, and safe chemical handling.
  • Skills — Practical mechanical aptitude for basic equipment troubleshooting; good organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Leadership — Ability to motivate and manage a small team, maintain discipline, and deliver clear shift handovers.
  • Physical Requirements — Able to stand for long periods, lift and move heavy items safely, and work in hot, wet, or noisy kitchen environments.
  • Language — Fluent English; additional languages are beneficial.
  • Availability — Flexible to work rotating shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Work Authorization — Legal right to work in the UAE or the country where the role is based.
