Sharjah National Hotels is hiring a skilled Kitchen and Laundry Technician to join our engineering and operations teams across city and resort properties. This hands‑on role ensures kitchen and laundry equipment run safely and efficiently so culinary and housekeeping teams can deliver consistent guest experiences. The ideal candidate combines technical know‑how with a proactive, service‑minded approach, responds quickly to breakdowns, and helps implement preventive maintenance programs that reduce downtime and operating costs.


Salary Range

AED 3,500 – AED 5,500 per month depending on qualifications, experience, and shift/on‑call responsibilities.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Equipment Maintenance and Repair — Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on kitchen equipment (ovens, ranges, fryers, dishwashers, refrigeration units) and laundry machinery (washers, dryers, presses).
  • Preventive Maintenance — Execute scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, maintain logs, and follow manufacturer checklists to extend equipment life and prevent failures.
  • Troubleshooting — Rapidly identify mechanical, electrical, and plumbing faults; implement temporary fixes and coordinate permanent repairs with vendors when required.
  • Installation and Commissioning — Assist with installation, testing, and commissioning of new kitchen and laundry equipment, ensuring correct setup and safe operation.
  • Safety and Compliance — Ensure all work complies with safety standards, local regulations, and hotel policies; follow lockout/tagout procedures and safe chemical handling.
  • Spare Parts and Inventory — Maintain an organized inventory of common spare parts and tools; recommend stock replenishment and cost‑effective sourcing.
  • Collaboration — Work closely with culinary, housekeeping, and engineering teams to prioritize repairs, minimize service disruption, and support peak‑period operations.
  • Record Keeping — Log maintenance activities, parts used, and service reports; provide clear handover notes for shift changes.
  • On‑call Support — Participate in an on‑call rota to respond to urgent breakdowns outside normal hours when required.

Requirements

  • Education — Technical diploma or vocational qualification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred.
  • Experience — Minimum 2 years experience in hotel, commercial kitchen, or industrial laundry maintenance preferred.
  • Technical Skills — Practical knowledge of electrical systems, motors, pumps, refrigeration, gas appliances, and basic plumbing. Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
  • Certifications — Trade certifications or accredited maintenance courses advantageous; refrigeration or gas safety certification is a plus.
  • Problem Solving — Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to prioritize repairs under pressure.
  • Physical Requirements — Able to lift equipment parts, work in hot or humid environments, and stand for extended periods.
  • Work Style — Reliable, safety‑focused, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Availability — Willingness to work rotating shifts and participate in an on‑call schedule.
  • Language — Basic English required; additional languages are beneficial.
