The Food Runner is the operational link between the kitchen and the dining room, ensuring that every plate reaches the guest at the correct temperature, with correct accompaniments, and presented to MADO’s standards. This role is ideal for proactive, energetic individuals who enjoy a fast-paced environment, take pride in attention to detail, and want to develop frontline hospitality skills. As a Food Runner you will work closely with servers, the expeditor/pass, and kitchen teams to support smooth service flow, expedite orders, and contribute to memorable guest experiences. The position offers practical exposure to restaurant operations, opportunities for cross-training in front-of-house roles, and visible development pathways within MADO UAE outlets.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver Orders Promptly
    Collect plated orders from the pass/expeditor and deliver them to the correct tables quickly and efficiently while maintaining food quality and temperature.
  • Verify Order Accuracy
    Check each plate against order tickets and pass notes to confirm items, portions, garnishes, and special requests or dietary requirements are correct before leaving the kitchen.
  • Plate Finishing and Presentation Support
    Assist chefs and expeditors with final garnishing, sauce finishes, and simple plating adjustments to ensure presentation meets standards.
  • Table Service Assistance
    Place plates and condiments on the table in the prescribed sequence, remove serving covers when required, and assist servers with bread, water, and side-dish delivery.
  • Communication and Coordination
    Maintain clear, calm communication with the kitchen, expeditor, and serving team to manage timing, prioritise rush items, and handle urgent requests.
  • Support Order Flow Management
    Monitor ticket times at the pass, escalate late items, and help balance delivery loads between sections during peak service.
  • Clearing and Resetting
    Clear finished plates promptly, transport dirty dishes to the designated clearing area or dish station, and help reset tables quickly and correctly for the next guests.
  • Cleanliness and Safety
    Keep service routes, side stations, and pass area clean and unobstructed; adhere to hygiene and food safety protocols when handling plated items.
  • Side Station Maintenance
    Maintain stocked side stations with condiments, utensils, napkins, serving trays, and disposables; report shortages to supervisors timely.
  • Guest Interaction
    Offer polite, friendly interactions while delivering food; respond courteously to guest queries and refer service issues to servers or supervisors.
  • Assist with Special Events
    Support banquet and private event setups by transporting dishes, stacking service trays, and aiding in coordinated mass service when required.
  • Ad hoc Support Tasks
    Help with simple food prep tasks, plating assistance, or bussing duties as directed by supervisors to support overall service efficiency.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a restaurant, café, or hotel service role is preferred but not mandatory; eagerness to learn and a strong work ethic accepted.
  • Good communication skills in English; additional languages are advantageous.
  • Ability to work on your feet for long periods, carry trays and plates safely, and move quickly without compromising service standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to correct order delivery and presentation.
  • Team-player attitude, punctuality, and reliability with a guest-first mindset.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices; food handler certification is a plus.
  • UAE work eligibility or valid employment visa as applicable.
