Position: Junior Sous Chef (Pastry)

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Junior Sous Chef (Pastry) to join our talented kitchen team. As a Junior Sous Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing and executing the pastry operations in our kitchens, creating exceptional desserts, and leading a dedicated team to ensure that every dish is made to perfection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Pastry Chef in managing and overseeing the daily pastry operations in the kitchen.

  • Prepare and present high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods, including cakes, tarts, pastries, and bread, ensuring consistency and excellence in presentation and flavor.

  • Menu Development: Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new and exciting dessert menus, taking inspiration from current trends and seasonal ingredients.

  • Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and motivate junior pastry team members, providing guidance and mentorship to help them grow their skills.

  • Quality Control: Ensure all pastries and desserts meet the hotel’s high standards of quality, taste, and presentation.

  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory and ensure that ingredients are well-stocked and within their shelf life, minimizing waste while maintaining quality.

  • Hygiene and Safety: Ensure that all pastry items are prepared in compliance with food safety regulations, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen at all times.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the rest of the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient operation during service.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Proven experience in pastry production, ideally in a luxury hotel or fine dining restaurant, with at least 2-3 years in a similar role.

  • Creativity: A passion for pastry arts, with the ability to create both innovative and classic desserts that leave a lasting impression.

  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail when it comes to presentation, taste, and texture.

  • Leadership Skills: Ability to lead and motivate a team, providing clear direction and fostering a positive work environment.

  • Team Player: Strong collaboration skills, working efficiently and harmoniously with the rest of the kitchen team.

  • Time Management: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced kitchen.

  • Hygiene and Safety: Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

  • Qualifications: A relevant culinary qualification or certification in pastry is highly preferred.
