Quantity surveyor

📌 Position Summary

Co-operative Bank of Kenya is seeking a skilled and reliable Quantity Surveyor to join our Projects and Facilities team. The successful candidate will manage the financial and contractual aspects of the Bank’s construction, refurbishment, and maintenance projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and value delivery.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

• Project Oversight: Manage and oversee routine scheduled maintenance work, respond to equipment faults, and conduct quality inspections.

• Cost Management: Ensure proper contracting, cost management, and value management for the Bank’s construction, refurbishment, and maintenance projects.

• Tender Documentation: Prepare blank bills of quantities and other tender documents to be issued to contractors for tendering.

• Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise with procurement teams and external consultants on all tender processes, including shortlisting of contractors, tender invitations, tender opening, and tender evaluation.

• Project Supervision: Supervise projects in liaison with the Bank’s consultants to successful completion within agreed timelines.

• Valuations and Payments: Prepare valuations for in-house projects, evaluate, and monitor payments to contractors at various stages of construction.

• Documentation: Ensure complete and proper documentation of all ongoing and completed projects, such as contracts, performance bonds, and all necessary documentation.

• Repair Specifications: Prepare repair specifications, select suitable contractors to carry out the works, and prepare maintenance tender documents.

🎓 Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Building Economics or equivalent.

• Experience: A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role in a fast-paced environment.

• Skills: Strong preventive and active maintenance skills, construction and project management skills, excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

• Business Acumen: Excellent business skills and knowledge of managing budgets, leading a team, and liaising with suppliers.

• Additional Skills: Ability to build strong relationships across the organization, advanced report writing and presentation skills, sound ability to prioritize, time-manage, and honor deadlines.
