Hotel General Manager – Kenya: Job Summary 

We are seeking an exceptional Hotel General Manager to lead one of our flagship properties in Kenya, a destination known for its natural beauty, cultural richness, and warm hospitality. This role is ideal for a seasoned hotelier who combines operational expertise with strategic thinking, people leadership, and a deep passion for delivering outstanding guest experiences.

As the Hotel General Manager, you will oversee the full spectrum of hotel operations, ensuring that every department—from Rooms and F&B to Finance, Engineering, and Guest Services—operates with excellence, efficiency, and alignment to brand standards. You will be responsible for driving commercial performance, elevating service quality, and fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

This position requires a leader who thrives in dynamic environments, understands the nuances of the East African hospitality landscape, and can build strong relationships with guests, employees, local partners, and stakeholders. You will champion operational innovation, implement robust systems, and ensure the hotel remains competitive, profitable, and highly rated.

Beyond daily operations, you will play a strategic role in shaping the long-term success of the property, contributing to regional growth initiatives and supporting the expansion of MGM Muthu Hotels in Kenya. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily hotel operations across all departments
  • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams
  • Drive revenue growth, profitability, and cost control
  • Ensure exceptional guest satisfaction and service delivery
  • Maintain brand standards, SOPs, and quality assurance systems
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Build strong relationships with local authorities, partners, and suppliers
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Lead strategic planning and operational improvements
  • Represent the hotel at corporate, community, and industry events

Requirements

  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive hotel leadership experience
  • Proven experience as a General Manager or Resident Manager in a 4–5 star property
  • Strong financial acumen and commercial strategy skills
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities
  • Experience managing multicultural teams
  • Strong understanding of guest experience and service excellence
  • Knowledge of the Kenyan hospitality market is an advantage
  • Ability to relocate and work full-time in Kenya
