The Junior Waiter role at Roasters is an entry‑level front‑of‑house position designed for enthusiastic candidates who want practical hospitality experience and a clear pathway to more senior FOH roles. You will support waiters and supervisors by assisting with seating, clearing, basic service tasks and maintaining a welcoming dining environment. Through on‑the‑job coaching and structured training, Junior Waiters at Roasters are prepared to develop product knowledge, improve service technique and progress into waiter or barista roles.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with greeting and seating guests and ensure smooth table turnover during busy periods.
• Clear and reset tables quickly and correctly, paying attention to cleanliness and presentation.
• Support waiters by running food and beverages to tables and assisting with basic service tasks.
• Refill condiments, water and service stations; help maintain pristine dining area appearance.
• Learn menu items and simple product descriptions to support ordering and recommendations.
• Support simple takeaway orders and packaging when required.
• Participate in cleaning rotas, opening/closing checklists and basic stock replenishment.
• Accept feedback and coaching, applying learning to improve speed and service quality.

Requirements

• Some hospitality or customer service experience preferred but not mandatory.
• Positive attitude, reliable attendance and eagerness to learn.
• Good communication skills and a presentable, friendly manner.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Basic numeracy and the ability to use a POS system are advantageous.
• Physically able to stand for shifts and handle routine lifting of trays and boxes.
