Zapata Je Mexican Restaurant is looking for a talented Demi Chef de Partie (Tex-Mex Cuisine) to join our pre-opening team ahead of our grand launch at J1 Beach, Dubai in July 2025. This role is perfect for a culinary professional with pre-opening experience who thrives in creating bold, flavorful dishes that blend traditional Mexican cuisine with Texas-inspired influences. The DCDP will play a key role in ensuring high-quality food preparation, innovative plating, and seamless kitchen operations in a vibrant beachfront setting.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in pre-opening kitchen setup, organizing workstations, and refining service workflows.
  • Work closely with senior chefs to develop and execute Tex-Mex menu items, blending authentic Mexican flavors with contemporary Texan twists.
  • Ensure precision, consistency, and presentation in food preparation and plating techniques.
  • Experiment with smoky, spicy, and grilled flavor profiles, maintaining authenticity while adding innovation.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene regulations, and kitchen cleanliness.
  • Monitor stock levels, assist with ingredient selection, inventory management, and supplier coordination.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, sharing expertise in Tex-Mex cooking techniques.
  • Support pre-launch events, menu tastings, and promotional culinary showcases.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Demi Chef de Partie or in a similar role.
  • Pre-opening experience in setting up kitchen operations is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Tex-Mex cuisine, traditional recipes, and bold flavor combinations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy kitchen environment.
  • Passion for culinary creativity, fusion-style innovation, and eye-catching presentations.
  • Excellent teamwork, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
