Saddle House Sharjah is hiring a skilled, service-oriented Captain Waiter to lead a section of the Front of House team and deliver consistently excellent guest experiences. This role suits an experienced hospitality professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at guest interaction, and can mentor junior staff while maintaining high operational standards. As Captain Waiter you will be responsible for managing a service section during shifts, coordinating closely with the kitchen and bar to ensure timely and accurate delivery, and stepping in to resolve guest issues with tact and efficiency. You will also support training, uphold presentation and hygiene standards, and contribute to upselling and revenue through informed recommendations. The ideal candidate is a local resident eligible to work in the UAE, fluent in Arabic and proficient in English, with a proven track record in senior waiter or supervisory roles. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Section Leadership
    • Lead and manage a designated service section during shifts; assign tasks and ensure smooth handovers between servers.
    • Monitor timing and coordination of courses to maintain consistent pacing and table turns.
  • Guest Service
    • Greet and seat guests when required; present menus and explain specials or promotions.
    • Handle guest enquiries, special requests, and complaints professionally; escalate complex issues to management.
  • Order and Service Coordination
    • Accurately take and relay orders to kitchen and bar; verify order completeness and presentation before service.
    • Ensure correct billing and process payments when necessary; resolve billing discrepancies promptly.
  • Training and Mentoring
    • Coach junior waitstaff on service standards, menu knowledge, and upselling techniques.
    • Conduct on-shift training and provide constructive feedback to improve team performance.
  • Standards and Compliance
    • Enforce hygiene, safety, and service protocols; ensure tables, cutlery, and service stations are maintained to standard.
    • Monitor stock levels of service items and report shortages to supervisors.
  • Revenue and Guest Retention
    • Promote specials and recommend pairings to enhance guest experience and increase average check value.
    • Build rapport with regular guests and contribute to a welcoming dining atmosphere.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 2–4 years in a senior waiter, captain, or supervisory FOH role within restaurants, cafés, or hotels.
  • Language: Fluent Arabic required; strong English communication skills essential.
  • Skills: Excellent guest-facing skills, strong attention to detail, confident upselling ability, and solid knowledge of menu and beverage pairings.
  • Technical: Familiarity with POS systems, order management, and basic cash-handling procedures.
  • Personal Attributes: Professional appearance, punctuality, resilience under pressure, leadership mindset, and a collaborative attitude.
  • Eligibility: Local resident eligible to work in the UAE; flexible availability including weekends and public holidays.
