Introduction Summary
The Team Leader / Supervisor at Roasters Specialty Coffee House is a frontline leader responsible for ensuring smooth shift operations, upholding service standards, and developing junior staff. This role suits an experienced hospitality professional who thrives on coaching, quality control, and hands-on problem solving during busy services. You will run shifts, keep service consistent and timely, act as the management presence on the floor, and be an advocate for Roasters’ operational standards and guest-first culture. The position offers strong exposure to people management, pre-opening setup activities, and daily operational ownership — a clear pathway to assistant manager and managerial roles for high performers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead assigned shifts: coordinate team tasks, position staff, and manage service flow to meet speed and quality targets.
- Coach and mentor junior baristas, waitstaff, and cashiers through on-the-job feedback and short training sessions.
- Ensure adherence to SOPs: opening/closing checklists, mise en place standards, hygiene and safety procedures.
- Monitor product quality and presentation; provide real-time corrective coaching for beverage and food preparation.
- Manage guest interactions and minor escalations professionally; escalate major issues to management.
- Maintain communication with the Restaurant Manager and Assistant Manager via shift handovers and operational reports.
- Oversee simple stock checks, service station replenishment, and rotation of perishable items during shift.
- Support cash handling and POS accuracy when required; assist with end-of-shift cash-ups and basic reconciliations.
- Record and report operational observations, recurring issues, and staffing needs to management.
Requirements
- 1–3 years’ supervisory or senior FOH experience in cafés, casual dining, or fast-casual hospitality.
- Demonstrated ability to lead small teams, coach on performance, and maintain composure during peak periods.
- Strong communication skills, reliable attendance, and a professional standard of presentation.
- Practical familiarity with POS systems, basic stock control, and opening/closing procedures.
- Customer-focused attitude with the ability to resolve guest issues calmly and effectively.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts including early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
- Proactive, solution-oriented mindset and a clear desire to progress within a growing hospitality brand.
