`Waiter – Roasters specialty coffee house

Introduction / Summary

The Waiter at Roasters is a frontline hospitality role centered on delivering warm, efficient and memorable service that complements our specialty coffee and café offering. You will be the primary point of contact for dine‑in guests, responsible for creating smooth table journeys from welcome to farewell. This role suits a friendly, attentive professional who takes pride in presentation, has a strong service instinct, and can work calmly during busy periods while upholding Roasters’ standards for guest interaction, speed, and accuracy. As a waiter you’ll collaborate closely with baristas, kitchen staff and supervisors to ensure timely delivery of beverages and food, support floor operations and contribute to an inviting dining environment that encourages repeat visits.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Greet and seat guests promptly with a friendly, professional manner.
• Present menus knowledgeably and make appropriate recommendations or simple upsells.
• Take accurate orders, relay them clearly to bar/kitchen and monitor order progress to ensure timely delivery.
• Serve food and beverages with correct presentation and attention to temperature, portions and guest preferences.
• Check back during service to ensure satisfaction and respond promptly to guest requests or minor complaints.
• Clear and reset tables efficiently; maintain cleanliness and appearance of the dining area.
• Assist with side‑work tasks: polishing cutlery, restocking condiments, and maintaining service stations.
• Support cashiers and POS operations when required and assist with basic checks at the end of service.
• Follow health, safety and hygiene procedures at all times; report any incidents or operational issues to supervisors.

Requirements

• Previous customer-facing experience in cafés, casual dining or fast-casual restaurants preferred.
• Polished presentation, friendly demeanor and strong communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritise and stay calm during peak periods while maintaining service standards.
• Basic numeracy and familiarity with POS systems desirable.
• Reliable punctuality, team-oriented mindset and flexible availability including mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Physically able to stand for long periods and carry trays or plates safely.
