Job Post: Commis Chef (Oven/Robata) at Ape Hospitality

Job Description:
As a Commis Chef (Oven/Robata) at Ape Hospitality, you will play a key role in assisting with the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes that are cooked in the oven or on the Robata grill. This position requires you to be proficient in handling these cooking techniques, following our kitchen’s standards for flavor, consistency, and presentation. You will work under the direction of senior chefs, contributing to a smooth operation in the kitchen while learning and growing in a professional, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing and cooking dishes using the oven and Robata grill, ensuring food is cooked to perfection and presented beautifully.
• Follow recipes and cooking techniques as directed by senior chefs to ensure consistency and quality.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation, including ovens and Robata equipment.
• Ensure that food is stored correctly, rotated, and labeled according to food safety and hygiene standards.
• Support senior kitchen staff in the preparation of dishes and assist in mise en place.
• Keep track of inventory for the oven/Robata section and notify senior chefs when stocks need to be replenished.
• Monitor food cooking times and temperatures to ensure high standards are met.
• Assist in maintaining a safe and clean kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety protocols.
• Work as part of a team to ensure smooth service and guest satisfaction.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a kitchen, particularly with ovens or Robata grills, is preferred but not mandatory.
• A passion for cooking and eagerness to learn new techniques.
• Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
